The garmin 750 is amazing. Before setting out on your trip be sure to set if you want a faster trip or a shorter trip. It will change your route a great deal sometimes. I drove all over the midwest with this and it never got me lost. Update the map on the garmin website. Dont expect much in the packaging because they have their official guide on the website in a .pdf. Its very very simple to use and even my father who is bad with electronics was able to work it fine. Use your fingernail to press in on the screen. The point of impact makes it work better than the spread out fingertip (I learned this quickly). The FM Transmitter is nice, but with stations going in and out is a bit tedious to set it to one station alone. Changing that is a bit of a hassle and the TTS is loud enough to not need it. This does not have bluetooth for the phone connection (if you want that get the 760). The TTS voices are a bit lower quality but they are easy to understand (I rather enjoyed testing out the australian and british accents, they sound much better than the normal american english).
Worked like new, I'd never have known it was refurbished.

I bought a refurbished nuvi 750 about 9 months ago and it still does work as of today(sort of).The gps does get me where i need to go but sometimes in not the best route.Sometimes this thing makes me take routes that seem to be longer in my opinion.It will take me to a destination just to take me a different way on the way home.Dont really understand that.I have it set to the fastest time and it has taken me a completely different route on the way home.If the way home is the fastest route,then why isnt the route there the same way??I have also found that if your driving 65mph down the highway,the gps does not warn you quick enough when you need to turn.Using the gps on 3d mode which most people do,i found to be very inaccurate with the pictures.My destination will be 1/4 mile earlier than expected or 1/4 mile farther down the road.Using it in 2d mode is a bit more accurate for visual purposes.
I do enjoy the mp3 player on this unit,however sometimes the music actually skips(yes i said skips).Even the voice on the gps unit will skip quite often making it impossible to understand what "Jack"(Garmins English male voice) is talking about.The gps will also reset itself back to the "default" setting of no voice at all which kinda makes me think that "Jack" went to sleep!!I also have been having problems with the gps freezing up from time to time especially when first turned on when the maps are loading.I have my gps set to where i have to punch in a security code before it can be used but most of the time,the gps will work without having to type in the code.What kind of security is that??The power cord they sent me i also think is defective.Sometimes you actually have to wiggle it around in the 12v power outlet to get it to work.The suction cup mount on this thing doesnt work very well in hot weather.After the gps has been sitting in the sun,the suction cup will lose suction and the gps will fall which has happened to me over 20 times which cant be good for the gps.This is probably typical for must suction mounts.
conclusion--this gps does get me where i need to go but with some problems.If it werent for the mp3 player on this unit i would have bought another brand for all the small little problems i have had with this thing.I will be returning it to Garmin here soon before the warranty runs out,since i cant stand listening to "Jack" trying to give me directions with a stuttering problem and since the security doesnt really work on it anyway.Plus with all the other small problems ive had.Maybe i should have bought new instead of refurbished?!!?

I am updating this unit from a 3 star to a 4 star.The security problems and voice stuttering problems appear to have been fixed from a simple free down-loadable update from Garmin.Apparently they update the "firmware" which is in these units and you are suppose to check the Garmin website from time to time to see if there is an update for your specific gps and then download the update via usb cable that should have came with your gps.My GPS was 3 updates behind.I downloaded the newest updated firmware(not maps) from Garmin which specifically said it would fix the voice stuttering and a few other things.The download took only a few minutes with DSL.The voice stuttering and security work now but i still dont like the routing the Garmin gives when taking a trip.It will actually make you take a different way home then the way you originally got to your specific destination.Apparently this is a problem with most Garmin units from what ive read and Garmin gives some technical jargon terms to explain why it does this that makes no sense to me.Heck my old Magellan never took me a different way home then the way i got there.What would happen if i passed a store or something on the way to my destination that i thought i could just visit on the way home??I couldnt do that because the Garmin will route you a different way home.Garmin should really do something about the routing so am staying firm at a 4 star rating.
Garmin keeps good updates on their products but their gps routing is a bit strange and could be better.
Good navigation unitApril 13, 2010 P. Malayil(Lansing, US) I bought this unit for the precision and ease of use. For the price, it can't get better. Garmin has the best quality screens and map displays.
Had a tough time picking between this unit and the 265WT. After all the research, i gave priority to the fact that 700 series uses better technology for signal reception since this is a higher end series compared to 200 series. That means better precision and ability to track satellite in tougher conditions. My unit has only lost connectivity when i am way inside in mall parking lots. Also, where i live, they don't have live traffic. On the other side, i must admit that 265T has better direction displays. The green arrow on top left next to route display can be very useful in preparing for the turn.
750 don't have bluetooth. If that's something you need, buy 760. If you are willing to spare few more bucks, go for 785T with all these features, traffic and real time lane displays.
My only complaint to Garmin is the lack of a technology like TomTom map share. From its description, it sounds very useful in keeping up with changes caused by road blocks and construction works. A moderated information sharing map is definitely the way to go.

It did not warn me early enough . I wish it has a repeat feature button. Sometimes it speaks too fast or weird pronounciation of route number etc.. Somtimes do recalculation some time don't. This leads me to run around and wastes 15 minutes time and gas. It should insist more on U turn if it is possible. The display should let me know my speed, how many miles to destination . Overall , it does its job very well . It saves me a lot of time. Only thing I need to know is the addresses. After that, garmin takes care of the rest.
