I like the low profile looks (wasn't a fan of the bean bag's looks). It sticks very well to the dash. It has left a shiny spot on the dash a couple of times in my truck but it wipes right off with a microfiber towel (it isn't a big deal). Basically if you like the looks of this mount buy it, if you hate the idea of the shiny spot sometimes then go with the bean bag.

At first, I thought it was impossible to get a stand instead of a window mount to hold my GPS device securely. However, this silicon-based stand can be bent and molded into any shape to contour to any dashboard. I could actually take this to car to car without worrying. Secondly, no matter how hard I have hit the brakes, it really doesn't move...amazing!

I own and have used the window mount, the bean bag dash mount and this flat flexible friction mount. Of the three the friction mount is the best. It is much more compact than the bean bag and is also "stickier" than the bean bag when set on my dash. (I never had a problem with the bean bag moving but the friction mount is way more stable). If you have to pack your mount for air travel... the friction mount is lighter and much more compact.
The friction mount also allows full access to the GPS. I found the bean bag sections got in my way when I wanted to adjust the angle/tilt of the GPS.

Yep, it's a bit expensive, but it's worth every penny. I drive for a living and needed something that would work in a variety of vehicles, and I haven't found anything yet that this won't work in (limousines, vans, sedans, minibuses etc.) .
That nice bendy, but still firm material the base is made out of is PERFECT for it's purpose. It's easily bendable by will hold any shape I need it to, and it's nicely sticky on the bottom too. It WILL stay in place where ever I put it.
I also love that it folds flat (in one piece) to fit in my daily work bag. Simple, elegant, and perfect for it's intended purpose. Garmin gets an A+ for this!

I saw this friction mount on the Garmin web site and thought it would work in both of cars and my motor home. It works as advertised!! It bends to conform to the dashboard and the stick base stays put. It doesn't slide or tip over. As a test I put plastic wrap around the base so the sticky base was covered and use it in my Honda CRV with the same results. It didn't move. Great Product!!!!
